Australia pt12 - Back home, soundwave photos up

Arrived home at the very early hours of this morning. Its good to be back home, Burger King is so much better than Hungry Jacks, and NZ pies are better than Aussie ones.

Thankyou to anyone whose place I crashed at. All the guys from Addison were rad to stay with, cheers to the This City Sunrise boys for a place to crash after the show, Paki for Brisbane and both Richard and Maria in the Gold Coast. I can't wait to go back. I will have more photos from aussie up in a few weeks when I get my films developed.

But anyways, here are the photos from Soundwave in Brisbane

Australia pt11 - Evergreen Promo photos

So here are the photos from the shoot with Evergreen Terrace in Brisbane. The photos came out ok, we were all tired and decided to get it over and done with so got them all done in about 20mins. Some of them are a little over-exposed/blown-out but i thought I'd upload them anyways.

Australia pt10 - Soundwave... TIRED

So today i saw/photographed the following:
Mike Herrera (MxPx)
Saves The Day
All That Remains
Unearth
Evergreen Terrace
Underoath
Poison The Well
Every Time I Die
The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Bloodhound Gang
Horse The Band
New Found Glory
Nine Inch Nails

I'm far too tired to talk about that right now, will have photos from the show up some time.

After I got back from the show I had a quick shower then took off down to the hotel where all the bands were staying to do some photos for Evergreen Terrace. Real nice guys, easy to work with and funny. They were as tired as I was and have a flight to catch at 5am so we tried to get it all over and done with quite quickly. Will have photos up from the shoot some time also. Here's a quick sample of what you are in for

Australia pt9 - Brisbane, Train Tracks, and Bath robes

So I arrived in Brisbane on Monday night, had a mean pizza with Paki when i arrived. The next day I walked into town and had a look around, found an awesome shop called Kill The Music. If I had some more cash I would have easily spent a bit of money in there. Left with a Converge DVD and an American Nightmare 7".

Then last night I met up with this dude Matt and his friend Matt, along with Paki we went to take some photos at an old train yard they knew of. Was good, got a couple of photos, and learned some new techniques. Matt lent me his 70-200mm f2.8 lens to use at soundwave which was so good of him.

Tonight I was supposed to be doing a photo shoot with Evergreen Terrace, went down to their hotel and tried to find them, asked around a bit, called their room a couple of times but after two hours we gave up and headed home. While we were there we saw plenty of people we didn't recognize, Greg Puciato from Dillinger and also all of Horse The Band, who about five minutes after arriving and heading straight up to their rooms all came out of the elevator wearing hotel bath robes. Then about half an hour came out of a different elevator still wearing the bath robes, a presume they had just been exploring the hotel.

Soundwave tomorrow, gunna be soooo good. I'm excited

So, saw them again last night. so good. so so good. played HEAPS of old stuff including a song off their EP from before Of Malice. The support bands were great too, enjoyed them more than the support the night before (with the exception of The Broderick)

Australia pt6 - arsonists get all the prison time

Hope they catch these little fuckers that have been lighting fires out here, I heard they caught one guy. Hundreds of people dead, thousands of homes destroyed. The sky is thick with grey smoke, The moon last night was orange from the fire. I can smell and taste the smoke. More fires were lit in the last couple of days, This shit makes me so angry, i hope these arsonists get caught and get dealt to in prison.

Australia pt5 - for fucks sake guys

Last night went to watch my boys Addison. These guys have been the best, letting me crash at their flat and showing me the sights. Good dudes.

it appears the local paparazzi also made it along to the show

a few words of advice for people new to photographing shows:
- Cut down on the flash usage
- Don't stand in the middle of the stage during a set so you can get a sic hard-out photo of the drummer
- Don't get in the way of performers & their gear (some "photographers" caused some dudes synth set up to fall over)
- and don't take up the whole front row for an entire show, the band isn't performing just for you.

Fuck.

Australia pt4 - fcuk, another show

So went to another couple of shows the last few days. First off was This City Sunrise at some hotel place in Fitzroy. The show was great and I'm sure the other 8 people watching had fun too, seriously Melbourne, where was everyone? People here need to check out This City Sunrise and hit that shit up from now on, good dudes that need more shows.

after dropping the gear back to Sams sweet pad, Alex, Reuben and I walked back to where they were staying, got maccas (they have mcflurrys here!) and along the walk back we took a little de-tour to go check out a place I've been keen to see since I saw it from the motorway on the first day I arrived. An abandoned warehouse with a HUGE Fcuk billboard on it. I would love to have a nosy about inside some time.

Australia pt3 - loner at a hardcore show

So i went to an AWESOME show yesterday. 8 bands played, was a really good show. However I was a loner for the whole thing, luckily i had my camera to keep me company.

All My Circuits and Collapsed were both awesome and it was the first show for both bands.
Didn't really dig Make The Most or The Seduction.
The Farewell and Hopeless were both great and sounded kinda like Modern Life Is War.
People lost their shit to Iron Mind.
and The Broderick were TOUGH.

Here are some photos...
